June 29, 2015

29.6.2015 Red Dot announced that Catchbox will be receiving the internationally recognized product design award.

“This award is a great milestone both for the product and the company. Because we are creating a whole new product segment for the microphone industry, it is great to have the approval of internationally recognized design experts.” CoFounder and CEO Timo Kauppila

In 2014 well know brands such as HewlettPackard, Sony, and Lenovo received the Red Dot award as well. The award ceremony will be held on the 29th of June, 2015 during the Red Dot Gala. About Catchbox

Catchbox is the worlds first throwable microphone for audience engagement. Designed to be thrown from one participant to another, the device works great in lectures, meetings and conferences, where passing a normal stick microphone is slow and cumbersome.

“We’ve put a lot of effort into designing this product, 2 years to be exact. Even though Red Dot is primarily a designer award, we believe in crossdisciplinary approach where the design process is not solely on the designers shoulders, but a collaboration between business development and engineering. “ CoFounder and lead designer Pyry Taanila

The main design drivers for the Catchbox were simplicity and playfulness. The cubeshaped form and the size of the product were chosen for an easy throw and catch experience and there are no buttons visible for the end users. To avoid unwanted sounds that might occur when throwing or dropping a mic, the patent pending Active Automute technology continuously senses the motion of the device and temporarily switch off the audio when the Catchbox is caught, thrown, or dropped. With its unique design consisting of the soft form factor, playful appearance, and intuitive user interface, the Catchbox is the ideal ice breaker, creating a fun and relaxed atmosphere in situations where those characteristics are seldomly seen.

In addition to regular product upgrades, other addons have been developed such as the newly launched customization service, which allows customers to brand the interchangeable soft covers of the product by themselves.

Receiving the Red Dot Design award is a most welcome addition to the Catchbox brand, and serves as an important milestone for the company. It further solidifies Catchbox as a globally wellreceived product. Currently the product has been sold to over 30 countries, mainly to the US, Canada, Germany and UK.
